Two children killed, three injured in Washington Parish house fire

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says two children were killed and three others were injured in a house fire in Washington Parish.

Officials say the fire started around 12:00 am at a home in the 45000 block of Beau Drive in the area of Franklinton, Louisiana.

Firefighters were able to rescue several occupants from the home. Among those rescued were two adults and three children ages 3, 4, and 6.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says two children, a 10-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy were unable to be rescued. The two died in the fire.

The three children were airlifted to a Baton Rouge hospital for treatment. The two adults were uninjured in the fire.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
