NAPOLEONVILLE, La. – A murder-suicide occurred late Tuesday afternoon near Supreme, south of Napoleonville, according to Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon.
At 5:20 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident off of LA 1011 who indicated a neighbor had just shot someone on a lawnmower. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched.
Approximately seven minutes later, On Star contacted the Sheriff’s Office and reported a vehicle crash on LA 1010.
Deputies were dispatched to that area and located a deceased man with a gunshot wound to the head.
It was determined that both scenes were related.
A preliminary investigation determined that Beau Blanchard, 29, of Labadieville, was cutting grass at a relative’s home when he was approached by his uncle, Scott G. Cazenave, 49, of Napoleonville. According to investigators, there was a brief conversation between Blanchard and Cazenave. At that time, for reasons undetermined, Cazenave walked off and retrieved a gun and then returned, shooting and killing Blanchard.
A short time later, Cazenave left the scene in a pick-up truck and shortly thereafter, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, off of LA 1010, stated Falcon.
The investigation is continuing.
