A Louisiana company got kudos from the Governor for today for putting out the Deer Park fire.

Gov. John Bel Edwards praised Louisiana-owned US Fire Pump and its fire control specialists, who within 24 hours contained and extinguished the blaze. That fire burned for almost two days before US Fire Pump was called to help.

US Fire Pump, which is based in Holden, responded to the fire with 8 large storage tanks, 18 special equipment units and 25,000 gallons of the company’s petrochemical firefighting foam to aggressively attack the fire. The company was contracted Monday night to control the fire and was on scene in Texas at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.

“We’re thankful to the 20 crew members at Louisiana’s own US Fire Pump for responding as quickly as they did by bringing in the necessary equipment and manpower to put out that massive fire,” said Gov. Edwards. “They dropped everything in the middle of the night and risked their lives to help a fellow neighbor during a time of great need. They represent the very best of the people of Louisiana and our willingness to always lend a helping hand in an emergency situation. We’re fortunate that US Fire Pump chooses to call Louisiana home.”

US Fire Pump specializes in firefighting equipment that protects the public and first responders while limiting structural damage in large scale fires. The company has more than 190 years of experience in designing, engineering and manufacturing fire service products.

“We are grateful that we were able to respond with our expertise and help extinguish this fire and protect the safety of the public, as it appears this will be one of the worst industrial fires in Texas’ history,” Chris Ferrara, President of US Fire Pump said. “Our company is known worldwide as a Louisiana asset that is always ready and capable of responding to these type of disasters.”
