A Glenmora couple was killed Thursday morning following a fire at their home in Rapides Parish.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says that deputies are still investigating the cause of the fire that claimed the life of a 75-year-old man and 69-year-old woman.

That fire happened Thursday morning in the 1500 block of Melder Road in Glenmora.

The Fire Marshal’s Office believes the two to be the couple who lived at the home together. Their bodies were found next to each other just feet from the home’s only exit, according to deputies.

The couple’s identities have not been released. A cause of death has not been determined.

Deputies say the fire originated near the south side of the home in close proximity to a travel trailer parked under a carport. The fire is believed to have been electrical in nature. According to deputies, several wires were found running through the home to two breaker panels in the home and travel trailer. Various types of lawn and mechanical equipment were also found in the area.
