Baton Rouge has it’s own style of Mardi Gras, including the satire-laden, flamingo-infested Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade.

The irreverent event occurred yesterday in Baton Rouge’s oldest historic neighborhood, nestled up against Downtown Baton Rouge and the Capitol Grounds.

The mascot of the parade is the majestic flamingo, and the only rule is that you can’t take yourself too seriously.
