A Columbia man died Saturday night near Olla when his motorcycle collided with a deer.
State Police say Russell Reeder, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened shortly before midnight.
Reeder was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle on La. 127 when the accident happened, State Police say. A deer entered the roadway, and Reeder wasn’t able to avoid it, troopers said.
Reeder and his passenger, a 51-year-old woman, were both ejected from the motorcycle. They were both wearing helmets. Reeder died at the scene, but Rockett was transported to a local hospital where she has moderate injuries, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
