A Marrero man was arrested this weekend, accused of pulling a gun on a Popeye’s manager over a condiment dispute.

Earl Jethroe, 59, was booked with aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace while drunk.

Jethroe is accused of pulling a gun during a dispute over condiments at the Popeye’s chicken on the West Bank Expressway.

A spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says the report doesn’t say what condiment the dispute was about, but apparently Popeye’s charges for extra condiments and Jethroe wasn’t happy about the policy.

Deputies allege he walked into the store, became irate, threw his chicken across the counter at the employees, and then pulled a semi-automatic pistol out of his waistband, the spokesman said.

Jethroe didn’t hurt anyone, and left the store. The employees called police, and when deputies arrived they found Jethroe next door at the Church’s chicken. He was screaming profanities, reeking of alcohol and staggering, the spokesman said.

No information about Jethroe’s bond was available late Monday.
