One person arrested, three deputies injured in St. Bernard incident

State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Monday in St. Bernard Parish.

The suspect in the case, Michael Cole, 24, of New Orleans, was not injured. Cole was booked with aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated battery, possession of stolen property and reckless operation.

The incident happened when deputies tried to stop a vehicle on La. 39 near Packenham Avenue. During that stop, three deputies were injured and shots were fired. Cole wasn’t injured and was arrested at the scene. The deputies were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab is assisting in the investigation.

State Police say this is an active investigation and no further information is available at this time.
