Lafayette man indicted for crash that killed a Baton Rouge councilman

A 21 year old Lafayette man has been indicted in the death of a Baton Rouge councilman, according to the Advocate.

Thursday September 6, 2018, 21-year-old Nicholas Alexander was indicted on reckless operation of a vehicle in the death of Baton Rouge councilman Buddy Amoroso. Amoroso was struck by an SUV while bicycling in June.

The paper reports that Alexander was charged by a grand jury with reckless operation but that jury declined to bring charges of negligent homicide and careless operation against him.

State Police reported that Alexander was traveling below the posted speed limit.
