As we’ve reported, a New Iberia man died in the Atchafalaya Basin this weekend while fishing.

Now the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says their enforcement agents are investigating another death on the water.

The body of Milton Gomez, 66, of Pontchatoula, was pulled from Lake Pontchartrain last night, agents say.

Agents were called Saturday afternoon when an empty 17-foot aluminum boat was found in the lake. Agents, along with Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies and members of the U.S. Coast Guard, began to search.

LDWF will be the lead investigative agency for this fatal boating incident.  It is unknown at this time how Gomez entered the water.  Gomez’s body was found without a personal flotation device.

Gomez’s body was turned over to the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death, agents say.
