On Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. the Festival of Words will host Pieces Of Hope Virtual Open Mic on Zoom.

For fifteen years, the festival has hosted the Grand Coteau based event featuring writers, musicians and storytellers. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the creative community will gather online. Coming together is an act of hope; come to share or just to listen and enjoy. The two-hour open mic presents twenty writers and musicians, each performing for five minutes. Performers are from Lafayette, New Orleans, New York, and England. Highlights include performances by the Poet Laureate of Louisiana, John Warner Smith; graphic memoirist Robin Ha; and Poet/musician Cornelius Eady.

Also featured are James Blanchard, Megan Breaux, Melissa Bonin, Lauri Brinkhaus, Brenda Calhoun, Jim Clinton, Laurie Daly, Charles Garrett, Lori Henderson, Shya Hebert, Dr. Godfrey Henry, Kathryn Krotzer Laborde, James McDowell, Valentine Pierce, Charlie Rauh, Margaret Simon.

To join them, go to the Facebook page for "Pieces Of Hope Virtual Open Mic." The link to the Zoom Café will be available the day of the event. Or, contact Martha at fowmartha@gmail.com or 337-804-2482.

This free, community event is suitable for all ages and is sponsored by the Festival of Words Cultural Arts Collective.
