The Salvation Army is asking for the community to give back to help their programs continue service.

On Giving Tuesday May 5, donations can be made to local charities and non-profit organizations. They hope the community will help them continue to provide service to those in need during this time.

Corps Officer Amanda McGee says that while donations have been down due to the current stay at home order, their services have increased. The Salvation Army provides food, shelter and social services along with emotional and spiritual comfort to those in need.

During the coronavirus pandemic the local Salvation Army has sheltered individuals without a place to live and provide meals to families.

"This gives donors a chance to give back to the community from their home," McGee said.
