Lafayette Consolidated Government says that the parish-wide curfew issued on March 16, 2020, for unaccompanied minors will be lifted effective 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2020.

The curfew was put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

LCG says Lafayette Parish is experiencing fewer COVID-19 cases.

“After consulting with the Sheriff, our Police and Fire Chiefs, and Lafayette Parish Mayors, I’ve determined the nightly curfew is no longer necessary,” said Mayor-President Josh Guillory in a release.

Guillory is also encouraging citizens to take the necessary steps to stay safe like washing hands frequently, remaining home when sick, and wearing a mask when social distancing isn’t possible.

Citizens experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are reminded to call 311, option 1 or 337-534-TEST to get information about COVID-19 testing sites in the parish.
