Medical officials share the state of COVID-19 in Acadiana

The medical community in Region 4 is sharing information on COVID-19 and the current state that Acadiana is in.

In a video released on November 16, Ochsner Lafayette General Chief Medical Officer Amanda Logue, MD, and Our Lady of Lourdes Chief Medical Officer Henry Kaufman, MD, along with Region 4 Office of Public Health Medical Director Tina Stefanski, MD, share the current state of COVID-19 in Acadiana as well as trends in the region.

The chief medical officers shared how they’re preparing for a potential third wave of COVID-19 and are asking for the public’s support of masking, social distancing, frequent hand washing and exposure quarantining to help stop the community spread of the virus.

For the safety of patients, guests and team members, visitor guidelines have the potential to change during surge operations. The hospitals encourage the public to check visitor guidelines on their respective websites each day, be free from any COVID-19 like symptoms and be prepared to mask for the duration of the visit.

Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Ochsner Lafayette General are working closely with the Governor’s Office, Louisiana Department of Health Region IV leadership and local hospitals to safely manage the patients In Acadiana.
