LDH reports another group of backlogged cases to COVID-19 daily update

The Louisiana Department of Health reported on Tuesday that it had added an another batch of backlogged COVID-19 cases to its daily update.

According to a note on the LDH website, 155 of the new cases reported are from a backlog that came in overnight. Most of these cases have specimen collection dates between May 2 - May 8 and 75 have unknown parishes.

LDH reported on May 13 that it had added three new testing labs with "historic results." These labs had previously not reported their results before, but are now reporting their lab results electronically.

As of June 9, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 562 and the number of deaths had increased by 13.

The number of cases in the state is now at 43,612. This is 562 more cases than were reported on Monday.

A total of 2,844 people have died of the disease in Louisiana as of Tuesday. This includes 13 more deaths than were reported yesterday.

The LDH is reporting that 33, 904 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered," which is updated weekly the last update on June 8.

The LDH reports that 568 people are hospitalized. Of those, 67 required ventilators.
