On Wednesday, 150 people took advantage of the drive-through public coronavirus screening offered by Iberia Medical Center.

The screening was held in the parking lot of North Lewis Elementary, with vehicles in line at 8 am for the 9am event.

Attendees were routed from the Andre street entrance into to parking lot to the first screening station where participants had their temperature taken and were asked a series of questions. If they were experiencing symptoms, participants were sent to the second station for additional evaluation by an onsite physician and flu testing.

Of the 150 people who attended, 57 were sent on to the second screening station where they were further evaluated by a physician and/or swabbed for flu. If negative for flu, swabs were sent for covid-19 testing, according to Lisa K. Landry, Director of Marketing for Iberia Medical Center.

Iberia Medical Center will be announcing a second screening event next week. The date and times will be posted on the hospital's Facebook page.
