Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, Shawn Wilson, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Wilson confirmed with KATC on Thursday that he is one of the two cases confirmed in Lafayette Parish on Wednesday.

Wilson says he has been in self-quarantine since Sunday, March 15. He began feeling bad and tested negatively for the flu on Sunday; he learned Wednesday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The DOTD secretary said he has not been around Governor John Bel Edwards in eight days, since he became symptomatic.
