COVID-19: State update - 422,287 cases and 9,440 deaths

As of Feb. 19, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 430 and there have been 34 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 362 are confirmed cases and 68 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Friday is 422,287. The current total death count is 9,440.

The collection dates for most of these cases (99%) fall between February 11 and February 18, 2021. 96% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 4% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Thursday, Feb. 18, there have been 812,962 vaccinations administered. In LDH Region 4, which includes Acadiana, 57,435 vaccine series have been initiated. These numbers will be updated again on Tuesday, February 23.

On Mondays, LDH usually releases the week's list of providers across the state that would have COVID vaccines available for those 65 years old and up and others within the current priority. Residents wanting to receive a vaccine at those locations were required to make an appointment. For more information, click here.

Gov John Bel Edward's announced that beginning Monday, February 22, teachers & support staff working at K-12 schools & daycares, non-emergency medical transportation staff, pregnant persons and people 55-64 years old with one or more health condition will be eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Since Thursday, 13,135 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 5,755,605. Of the tests reported today, 11,797 were PCR tests and 1,338 were antigen tests.

LDH reports that 806 patients were hospitalized across the state (down 17 from Thursday), and 1298 of those patients were on ventilators (up 1 from Thursday)

Across Acadiana, there were 73 new cases and 2 new deaths since Thursday.

As of Feb. 18, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 832 and there have been 15 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 507 are confirmed cases and 325 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Thursday is 421,846. The current total death count is 9,406.

The collection dates for most of these cases (98%) fall between February 10 and February 17, 2021. 99% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 1% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Feb. 17, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 605 and there have been 66 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 514 are confirmed cases and 91 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Wednesday is 421,018. The current total death count is 9,391.

LDH did not report numbers on Tuesday, February 16 in observance of the Mardi Gras holiday.

As of Feb. 14, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,312 and there have been 16 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 1,103 are confirmed cases and 209 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Sunday is 419,891. The current total death count is 9,292.

These newly reported cases come from all age groups, with the largest shares among 18-29yo and 30-39yo (each 19% of new cases).

As of Feb. 10, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 337 and there have been 50 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 314 are confirmed cases and 23 are probable cases.

According to LDH, because of the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases, the new case increase may not match the difference between today’s and yesterday's total case count.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Wednesday is 414,687. The current total death count is 9,212.
