COVID-19: State update - 414,354 cases and 9,162 deaths

As of Feb. 9, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,321 and there have been 20 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 806 are confirmed cases and 515 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Tuesday is 414,354. The current total death count is 9,162.

The collection dates for most of these cases (94%) fall between February 1 and February 8, 2021. 97% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 3% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Tuesday, February 9, there have been 637,361 vaccinations administered. In LDH Region 4, which includes Acadiana, 45,818 vaccine series have been initiated. These numbers will be updated again on Thursday, February 11.

On Mondays, LDH usually releases the week's list of providers across the state that would have COVID vaccines available for those 65 years old and up and others within the current priority. Residents wanting to receive a vaccine at those locations were required to make an appointment. For more information, click here.

Since Monday, 33,236 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 5,568,695. Of the tests reported today, 27,273 were PCR tests and 5,963 were antigen tests.

LDH reports that 1,122 patients were hospitalized across the state (down 22 from Monday); 151 of those patients were on ventilators (up 2 from Monday).

Across Acadiana, there were 260 new cases and 7 new deaths since Monday.

As of Feb. 8, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,184 and there have been 23 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Due to a server issue on Sunday, February 7, today’s reported case and test counts contain two days of data.

Of these cases, 1,102 are confirmed cases and 82 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Monday is 412,989. The current total death count is 9,142.

The collection dates for most of these cases (99.9%) fall between January 31 and February 7, 2021. 98% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 2% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Thursday, February 4, there have been 534,985 vaccinations administered. In LDH Region 4, which includes Acadiana, 40,933 vaccine series have been initiated. These numbers will be updated again on Tuesday, February 9.

As of Feb. 7, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,003 and there have been 43 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The state does not report numbers on Saturdays, but due to a server issue, today’s reported case and test counts only include one day of data.

Of these new cases, 1,317 are confirmed cases and 686 are probable cases.

The total number of cases reported to the state as of Sunday is 411,812. The current total death count is 9,119.

The collection dates for most of these cases (86.9%) fall between January 28 and February 4, 2021. 98% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 2% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Feb. 4, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,758 and there have been 38 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 1,236 are confirmed cases and 1,522 are probable cases.

LDH says that today’s report includes a backlog of 844 cases (120 confirmed and 724 probable). The collection dates range from October 22, 2020 to February 2, 2021. 3,934 tests are included in the backlog.

The total number of cases reported to the state Thursday is 408,995. The current total death count is 9,044.

The collection dates for most of these cases (54.2%) fall between January 27 and February 3, 2021. 16% of the cases fall between January 1 and January 26 and 18% of the cases fall in December 2020.
