COVID-19: State update - 392,416 cases and 8,688 deaths

As of Jan. 27, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,868 and there have been 67 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 2,346 are confirmed cases and 1,522 are probable cases.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Wednesday was 392,416 cases. The current total death count is 8,688.

The collection dates for most of these cases (96.1%) fall between January 19 and January 26, 2021. 98% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 2% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Tuesday, January 26, there have been 357,894 vaccinations have been administered. In LDH Region 4, which includes Acadiana, 32,032 vaccine series have been initiated. These numbers will be updated again on Thursday, January 28.

On Mondays, LDH usually releases the week's list of providers across the state that would have COVID vaccines available for those 70 year old and up and others within the current priority. Residents wanting to receive a vaccine at those locations were required to make an appointment. For more information, click here.

LDH reports that 344,321 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 01/25/20).

Since Tuesday, 41,475 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 5,200,248. Of the tests reported today, 32,648 were PCR tests and 8,827 were antigen tests.

LDH reports that 1,625 patients were hospitalized across the state (down 21 from Tuesday); 203 of those patients were on ventilators (down 14 from Tuesday).

Across Acadiana, there were 750 new cases and 6 new deaths since Tuesday.

As of Jan. 26, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,654 and there have been 31 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 1,990 are confirmed cases and 664 are probable cases.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Tuesday was 388,562 cases. The current total death count is 8,621.

The collection dates for most of these cases (98.3%) fall between January 18 and January 25, 2021. 98% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 2% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Tuesday, January 26, there have been 357,894 vaccinations have been administered. In LDH Region 4, which includes Acadiana, 32,032 vaccine series have been initiated.

Of these cases, 1,931 are confirmed cases and 144 are probable cases.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Monday was 385,942 cases. The current total death count is 8,590.

LDH says that today’s report includes data from January 24 and January 25.

The collection dates for most of these cases (99.8%) fall between January 17 and January 24, 2021. 97% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 3% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

As of Jan. 24, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,604 and there have been 82 new deaths, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

NOTE: The state does not report numbers on Saturdays. That means these differences reflect two days of numbers, not one.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Sunday was 383,862 cases. The current total death count is 8,565.

The collection dates for most of these cases (91.5%) fall between January 15 and January 22, 2021. 95% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 5% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (18%) and between the ages of 30 and 39 (16%) account for 34% of these cases.
