As of Dec. 29, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,946 and the number of deaths had increased by 61, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Of these cases, 3,060 are confirmed cases and 886 are probable cases.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Tuesday was 304,485 cases. The current total death count is 7,397.

LDH says that because of the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases, the new case increase may not match the difference between today’s and yesterday's total case count.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, LDH added COVID-19 vaccination data to its COVID-19 dashboard. As of Tuesday, Dec. 29, 37,969 vaccinations have been administered. This data will be updated twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The collection dates for all of Tuesday's cases (99.5%) fall between Dec. 21 and Dec. 28, 2020. LDH says that 97% of the cases reported to the state Tuesday were community spread and 3% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.

Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (19%) and between the ages of 30 and 39 (18%) account for 37% of these cases.

LDH reports that 247,501 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 12/21`/20).

Since Monday, 37,356 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 4,315,433. Of the tests reported Tuesday, 33,104 were PCR tests and 4,252 were antigen tests.

As of Monday, Dec. 28, LDH reports that 1,689 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 92 from Sunday), 218 of those patients were on ventilators (up 17 from Sunday).
