As of Dec. 24, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,562 and the number of deaths had increased by 46, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
On Tuesday, December 22, the Department added COVID-19 vaccination data to its COVID-19 dashboard. To date, 32,766 vaccinations have been administered. This data will be updated twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The total coronavirus case count in the state on Thursday was 296,499 cases. The current total death count is 7,272.
In observance of Christmas LDH will not update the dashboard on Friday, 12/25. LDH will resume normal updates on Sunday, 12/27.
LDH said that Wednesday had the highest number of deaths reported in a single day since 69 deaths were reported on July 29. On Monday, the state reported 65 deaths which was the highest number of deaths since July 29 before today. So far this week, 278 deaths have been reported to the state, according to LDH.
LDH reports that 247,501 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 12/21`/20).
As of Thursday, 1,633 patients were hospitalized across the state (down 42 from Wednesday), 199 of those patients were on ventilators (up 3 from Wednesday).
Across Acadiana, there were 511 news cases and 12 new deaths since Wednesday.

As of Dec. 23, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,976 and the number of deaths had increased by 68, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
Of these cases, 2,002 are confirmed cases and 974 are probable cases.
On Tuesday, the Department added COVID-19 vaccination data to its COVID-19 dashboard. To date, 22,108 vaccinations have been administered. This data will be updated twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The total coronavirus case count in the state on Wednesday was 293,934 cases. The current total death count is 7,226.
LDH says that Wednesday had the highest number of deaths reported in a single day since 69 deaths were reported on July 29. The collection dates for most of these cases (96.9%) fall between December 15 and December 22, 2020. 96% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 4% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (18%) and between the ages of 30 and 39 (17%) account for 35% of these cases, LDH says.

As of Dec. 20, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,738 and the number of deaths had increased by 48, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
The current total death count is 7,042. With today’s COVID-19 update, Louisiana has surpassed 7,000 deaths from COVID-19 since the first death was reported on March 14. This death toll is higher than the number of deaths caused by accidents, stroke and diabetes combined in Louisiana in 2017 (the most recent year for which the CDC has published data). In 2017, only heart disease (11,260) and cancer (9,513) took the lives of more Louisianans than COVID-19 has in 9 months of 2020, according to LDH.
