As of Dec. 21, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,111 and the number of deaths had increased by 65, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
Of these cases, 1,097 are confirmed cases and 14 are probable cases.
The total coronavirus case count in the state on Monday was 287,261 cases. The current total death count is 7,107.
The collection dates for most of these cases (99.8%) fall between December 13 and December 20, 2020. 94% of the cases reported to the state today were community spread. 6% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (18%) and between the ages of 30 and 39 (18%) account for 36% of these cases., LDH says.
LDH reports that 232,725 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 12/14/20).
Since Sunday, 12,042 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 4,135,757. Of the tests reported today, 11,937 were PCR tests and 105 were antigen tests.
As of Monday, 1,590 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 56 from Sunday), 174 of those patients were on ventilators (up 5 from Sunday).
Across Acadiana, there were 139 news cases and 10 new deaths since Sunday.

As of Dec. 20, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,738 and the number of deaths had increased by 48, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
The current total death count is 7,042. With today’s COVID-19 update, Louisiana has surpassed 7,000 deaths from COVID-19 since the first death was reported on March 14. This death toll is higher than the number of deaths caused by accidents, stroke and diabetes combined in Louisiana in 2017 (the most recent year for which the CDC has published data). In 2017, only heart disease (11,260) and cancer (9,513) took the lives of more Louisianans than COVID-19 has in 9 months of 2020, according to LDH.
NOTE: The state does not report numbers on Saturday. These differences are for two days.

As of Sunday, 1,534 patients were hospitalized across the state (down 13 from Friday), 169 of those patients were on ventilators (down 10 from Friday).
Across Acadiana, there were 672 news cases and 5 new deaths since Friday.
