As of Dec. 8, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,429 and the number of deaths had increased by 45, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
The total coronavirus case count in the state on Tuesday was 254,562. The current total death count is 6,652.
Of these cases, 1,775 are confirmed cases and 654 are probable cases.
According to LDH, because of the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases, the new case increase may not match the difference between today’s and yesterday's total case count.
The collection dates for all of these cases fall between November 30 and December 7, 2020. 96 percent of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.
The collection dates for most of these cases (95.8%) fall between Nov. 30 and Dec. 7, 2020. LDH says that 96% of the cases reported to the state Tuesday were community spread, while 4% of the cases reported to the state today were in congregate settings.
LDH reports that 202,891 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 11/30/20).
LDH says individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 account for 18% of these cases.
Since Monday, 32,084 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,760,929. Of the tests reported Tuesday, 27,933 were PCR tests and 4,151 were antigen tests.
As of Tuesday, 1,516 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 93 from Monday), 165 of those patients were on ventilators (up 4 from Monday).
Since Monday, 496 Acadiana residents have tested positive for the virus, and 21 have died.

As of Dec. 7, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,016 and the number of deaths had increased by 23, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
The total coronavirus case count in the state on Monday was 252,136. The current total death count is 6,607.
Of these cases, 994 are confirmed cases and 22 are probable cases.
The collection dates for all of these cases fall between November 30 and December 7, 2020. 96 percent of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.

Since Friday, LDH says that 10,915 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,728,845. Of the tests reported today, 10,738 were PCR tests and 177 were antigen tests.
As of Monday, 1,423 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 31 from Sunday), 161 of those patients were on ventilators (down 1 from Sunday).
Since Sunday, 167 Acadiana residents have tested positive for the virus, and 0 have died.
