COVID-19: State update - 252,136 cases and 6,607 deaths

As of Dec. 7, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,016 and the number of deaths had increased by 23, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Monday was 252,136. The current total death count is 6,607.

Of these cases, 994 are confirmed cases and 22 are probable cases.

The collection dates for all of these cases fall between November 30 and December 7, 2020. 96 percent of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.

LDH reports that 202,891 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 11/30/20).

Since Friday, LDH says that 10,915 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,728,845. Of the tests reported today, 10,738 were PCR tests and 177 were antigen tests.

As of Monday, 1,423 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 31 from Sunday), 161 of those patients were on ventilators (down 1 from Sunday).

Since Sunday, 167 Acadiana residents have tested positive for the virus, and 0 have died.

As of Dec. 6, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,939 and the number of deaths had increased by 36, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

REMINDER: The state does not post numbers on Saturday. Therefore, the differences in this story reflect two days, not one.

The total coronavirus case count in the state on Sunday was 251,123. The current total death count is 6,584.

Of the new cases, 3,291 are confirmed cases and 648 are probable cases.

The collection dates for most of these cases fall between November 28 and December 6, 2020. About 95 percent of the cases reported to the state Friday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.

LDH reports that 202,891 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 11/30/20).

Since Friday, LDH says that 45,248 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,717,930. These newly reported tests reported to the state since 12/4 are broken down as 40,993 molecular, 4,255 antigen.

As of Sunday, 1,392 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 35 from Friday), 162 of those patients were on ventilators (up 8 from Friday).

Since Friday, 755 Acadiana residents have tested positive for the virus, and 10 have died.
