As of Dec. 3, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 2,774 and the number of deaths had increased by 23, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
Of these cases, 2,232 are confirmed cases and 542 are probable cases.
LDH says that because of the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases, the new case increase may not match the difference between Thursday’s and Wednesday's total case count.
The collection dates for most of these cases fall between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2, 2020.
According to LDH, 96% of the cases reported to the state Thursday were community spread, and 4% of the cases reported to the state were in congregate settings.
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 account for 19% of these cases.
Since Wednesday, 26,111 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,645,006. Of the tests reported Thursday, 22,908 were PCR tests and 3,203 were antigen tests.
There have been 23 deaths reported to the state since yesterday. The current total death count is 6,524.
Of these cases, LDH says that 227,780 are confirmed cases and 13,555 are probable cases.
LDH reports that 202,891 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays. The last update was on 11/30/20).
Since Wednesday, 26,111 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,645,006.
As of Thursday, 1,325 patients were hospitalized across the state (up 37 from Wednesday), 142 of those patients were on ventilators (up 8 from Wednesday).
In Acadiana, there were 226 patients hospitalized as of Dec. 2 with 25 patients on ventilators.

As of Dec. 2, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,604 and the number of deaths had increased by 46, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
LDH says that the increase in cases on Wednesday is due to a backlog of 1,551 cases with collection dates going back to April.
Of these cases, 3,329 are confirmed cases and 275 are probable cases. The collection dates for most of these cases fall between November 24 and December 1, 2020. 96 percent of the cases reported to the state Wednesday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.
The total number of cases in the state is now at 241,335 and the number of deaths is 6,501 as of Wednesday.
Of these cases, LDH says that 227,780 are confirmed cases and 13,555 are probable cases.

Since Tuesday, 65,996 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 3,618,895.
