As of Dec. 2, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,604 and the number of deaths had increased by 46, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

LDH says that the increase in cases on Wednesday is due to a backlog of 1,551 cases with collection dates going back to April.

Of these cases, 3,329 are confirmed cases and 275 are probable cases. The collection dates for most of these cases fall between November 24 and December 1, 2020. 96 percent of the cases reported to the state Wednesday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 241,335 and the number of deaths is 6,501 as of Wednesday.

As of Dec. 1, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 5,326 and the number of deaths had increased by 35, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

LDH says that due to a recent processing error, some COVID-19 data that would have been reported November 29-30 is being reported Tuesday.

Because of the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases, LDH says, the new case increase may not match the difference between Tuesday’s and Monday's total case count.

The collection dates for most of these cases fall between Nov. 23 - 30.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 237,740 and the number of deaths is 6,455 as of Tuesday.

Of these cases, LDH says that 224,410 are confirmed cases and 13,330 are probable cases.

LDH says that the collection dates for all of these cases fall between November 23 - 30. LDH says that 97 percent of the cases reported to the state on Tuesday were community spread and 37 percent of the cases were in congregate settings.
