COVID-19: State update - 174,638 cases and 5,527 deaths

As of October 16, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 863 and the number of deaths had increased by 20, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 174,638 and the number of deaths is 5,527 as of Friday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between October 8 and October 15, 2020. 94 percent of the cases reported to the state Friday were community spread. 6 percent of the cases reported to the state were in congregate settings.

LDH reports that 161,792 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 10/12/20).

Since Thursday, 19,645 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,562,564.

According to LDH, 557 people are currently hospitalized (down 9 from Thursday), and 60 of those are on ventilators (down 1 from Thursday).

As of October 15, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 823 and the number of deaths had increased by 12, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 173,864 and the number of deaths is 5,507 as of Thursday.

LDH reports that 161,792 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 10/12/20).

Since Wednesday, 26,284 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,542,919.

According to LDH, 566 people are currently hospitalized (down 16 from Wednesday), and 61 of those are on ventilators (down 3 from Wednesday).
