COVID-19: State update - 169,044 cases and 5,402 deaths

As of October 6, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 506 and the number of deaths had increased by 6, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 169,044 and the number of deaths is 5,402 as of Tuesday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between September 28 and October 5, 2020. 88 percent of the cases reported to the state Tuesday were community spread and 12 percent of the cases reported to the state were in congregate settings.

LDH reports that 154,163 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/28/20).

Since Monday, 12,760 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,402,355.

According to LDH, 567 people are currently hospitalized (up 20 from Monday), and 71 of those are on ventilators (no change from Monday).

FROM MONDAY

As of October 5, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 230 and the number of deaths had increased by 9, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 168,512 and the number of deaths is 5,396 as of Monday.

LDH reports that 154,163 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/28/20).

Since Sunday, 7,350 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,389,595.

According to LDH, 547 people are currently hospitalized (up 29 from Sunday), and 71 of those are on ventilators (up 3 from Sunday).
