COVID-19: State update - 167,401 cases and 5,355 deaths

As of October 2, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 889 and the number of deaths had increased by 26, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 167,401 and the number of deaths is 5,355 as of Friday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between September 24 and October 1, 2020. 93 percent of the cases reported to the state Friday were community spread and 7 percent of the cases reported to the state were in congregate settings.

LDH reports that 154,163 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/28/20).

Since Thursday, 22,704 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,356,024.

According to LDH, 536 people are currently hospitalized (up 2 from Thursday), and 74 of those are on ventilators (down 1 from Thursday).

St. Mary - 1,947 cases (up 4) | 77 deaths (no change)

Vermilion - 2,051 (up 9) | 63 deaths (up 1)

As of October 1, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 608 and the number of deaths had increased by 8, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 166,584 and the number of deaths is 5,329 as of Thursday.

LDH reports that 154,163 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/28/20).

Since Wednesday, 16,141 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,333,320.

According to LDH, 534 people are currently hospitalized (down 19 from Wednesday), and 75 of those are on ventilators (down 4 from Wednesday).
