COVID-19: State update - 166,584 cases and 5,329 deaths

As of October 1, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 608 and the number of deaths had increased by 8, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 166,584 and the number of deaths is 5,329 as of Thursday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between September 23 and September 30, 2020. 96 percent of the cases reported to the state on Thursday were community spread and 4 percent of the cases reported were in congregate settings.

LDH reports that 154,163 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/28/20).

Since Wednesday, 16,141 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,333,320.

According to LDH, 534 people are currently hospitalized (down 19 from Wednesday), and 75 of those are on ventilators (down 4 from Wednesday).

St. Mary - 1,943 cases (up 9) | 77 deaths (no change)

Vermilion - 2,042 (up 1) | 62 deaths (up 1)

As of September 30, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 452 and the number of deaths had increased by 13, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 166,033 and the number of deaths is 5,321 as of Wednesday.

LDH reports that 154,163 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/28/20).

Since Tuesday, 10,646 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,317,179.

According to LDH, 553 people are currently hospitalized (down 25 from Tuesday), and 79 of those are on ventilators (down 1 from Tuesday).
