COVID-19: State update - 161,462 cases and 5,207 deaths

As of September 21, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 243 and the number of deaths had increased by 9, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 161,462 and the number of deaths is 5,207 as of Sunday.

According to LDH, the collection dates for all of these cases fall between Sept. 14 - 20, 2020. And 84% of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread. People aged 29 and under represent 34% of these cases with 26% being individuals between 18-29.

LDH reports that 145,570 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/14/20).

Since Sunday, 6,793 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,184,753.

According to LDH, 587 people are currently hospitalized (down 9 from Sunday), and 93 of those are on ventilators (down 7 from Sunday).

St. Landry - 3,260 cases (no change) | 124 deaths (no change)

St. Martin - 2,058 cases (down up 2) | 61 deaths (up 1)

St. Mary - 1,891 cases (up 2) | 77 deaths (no change)

Vermilion - 2,002 (down 5) | 58 deaths (up 1)

FROM SUNDAY:

As of September 20, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 928 and the number of deaths had increased by 26, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 161,219 and the number of deaths is 5,198 as of Sunday.

REMEMBER: The state doesn't report numbers on Saturdays. Therefore, the differences noted here are from FRIDAY.

LDH reports that 145,570 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/14/20).

Since Friday, 32,013 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,177,960.

According to LDH, 596 people are currently hospitalized (down 51 from Thursday), and 100 of those are on ventilators (down 4 from Friday).
