COVID-19: State update - 160,283 cases and 5,172 deaths

As of September 18, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 976 and the number of deaths had increased by 29, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 160,283 and the number of deaths is 5,172 as of Friday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between September 10 and September 17, 2020. 92 percent of the cases reported to the state Friday were community spread. People aged 29 and under represent 37 percent of these cases. 25 percent are individuals between 18-29.

LDH reports that 145,570 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/14/20).

Since Thursday, 22,796 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,145,947.

According to LDH, 647 people are currently hospitalized (down 16 from Thursday), and 104 of those are on ventilators (down 2 from Thursday).

St. Martin - 2,062 cases (up 3) | 60 deaths (no change)

St. Mary - 1,865 cases (up 4) | 76 deaths (up 1)

Vermilion - 1,991 (up 7) | 57 deaths (up 1)

FROM Tuesday:

As of September 17, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 500 and the number of deaths had increased by 17, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 159,304 and the number of deaths is 5,143 as of Thursday.

LDH reports that 145,570 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/14/20).

Since Wednesday, 9,006 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,123,151.

According to LDH, 663 people are currently hospitalized (down 15 from Wednesday), and 106 of those are on ventilators (down 1 from Wednesday).
