COVID-19: State update - 158,826 cases and 5,126 deaths

As of September 16, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 508 and the number of deaths had increased by 18, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 158,826 and the number of deaths is 5,126 as of Wednesday.

LDH reports that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between September 8 and September 15, 2020. 82 percent of the cases reported to the state Wednesday were community spread. People aged 29 and under represent 32 percent of these cases. 22 percent are individuals between 18-29.

LDH reports that 145,570 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/14/20).

Since Tuesday, 23,122 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,114,145.

According to LDH, 678 people are currently hospitalized (up 11 from Tuesday), and 107 of those are on ventilators (up 8 from Tuesday).

Vermilion - 1,976 (down 4) | 56 deaths (up 1)

FROM Tuesday:

As of September 15, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 426 and the number of deaths had increased by 26, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 158,318 and the number of deaths is 5,108 as of Tuesday.

LDH reports that 140,440 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/07/20).

Since Monday, 12,659 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 2,091,023.

According to LDH, 667 people are currently hospitalized (up 3 from Monday), and 99 of those are on ventilators (down 6 from Monday).
