COVID-19: State update - 154,955 cases and 4,970 deaths

As of September 9, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,511 and the number of deaths had increased by 15, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 154,955 and the number of deaths is 4,970 as of Wednesday.

Of the 1,511 new cases Wednesday, LDH says 690 are from a backlog dating from 8/6 to 9/4.

The collection dates for most of these cases, according to LDH, fall between September 1 and September 8, 2020. 95 percent of the cases reported to the state today were community spread.

LDH reports that 140,440 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 09/07/20).

Since Tuesday, 31,569 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 1,999,027.

According to LDH, 782 people are currently hospitalized (down 17 from Tuesday), and 123 of those are on ventilators (down 8 from Tuesday).

FROM TUESDAY:

As of September 8, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 250 and the number of deaths had increased by 13, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 153,433 and the number of deaths is 4,955 as of Tuesday.

LDH reports that 134,432 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 8/31/20).

Since Monday, 4,125 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 1,967,458.

According to LDH, 799 people are currently hospitalized (up 12 from Monday), and 131 of those are on ventilators (up 7 from Monday).
