As of September 8, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 250 and the number of deaths had increased by 13, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 153,433 and the number of deaths is 4,955 as of Tuesday.

LDH says that the low number of cases and tests reported Tuesday is likely due to a lack of testing and delays in reporting over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The collection dates for most of these cases fall between September 1 and September 7, 2020. 99 percent of the cases reported to the state were community spread.

LDH reports that 134,432 patients are "presumed recovered." (These numbers are normally updated on Mondays; last update 8/31/20).

Since Monday, 4,125 new tests have been reported to the state, bringing the total number of tests to 1,967,458.

According to LDH, 799 people are currently hospitalized (up 12 from Monday), and 131 of those are on ventilators (up 7 from Monday).
