COVID-19: State update - 144,116 coronavirus cases and 4,656 deaths

As of August 25, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 550 and the number of deaths had increased by 33, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 144,116 and 4,656 deaths as of Tuesday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of Tuesday's cases (65.8%) fall between August 18 and August 25, 2020. 28.2 percent fall between August 1 and August 17.

85 percent of the cases reported to the state today were community spread.

According to LDH, 930 people are currently hospitalized (down 9 from Monday), and 141 of those are on ventilators (down 11 from Monday).

Lafayette - 8,168 cases (down 32) | 109 deaths (up 3)

St. Landry - 3,006 cases (up 5) | 109 deaths (up 1)

St. Martin - 1,928 cases (up 89) | 51 deaths (no change)

St. Mary - 1,739 cases (up 13) | 66 deaths (up 1)

Vermilion - 1,842 (up 53) | 38 deaths (no change)

FROM MONDAY:

As of August 24, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 623 and the number of deaths had increased by 18, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 143,566 and 4,623 deaths as of Monday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of Monday's cases (99.7%) fall between August 17 and August 24, 2020. 71 percent of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread.

LDH is reporting that 118,120 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/17/20).

According to LDH, 939 people are currently hospitalized (down 2 from Sunday), and 152 of those are on ventilators (no change from Sunday).
