COVID-19: State update - 143,566 coronavirus cases and 4,623 deaths

As of August 24, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 622 and the number of deaths had increased by 18, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 143,566 and 4,623 deaths as of Monday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of Monday's cases (99.7%) fall between August 17 and August 24, 2020. 71 percent of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread.

LDH is reporting that 118,120 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/17/20).

According to LDH, 939 people are currently hospitalized (down 2 from Sunday), and 152 of those are on ventilators (no change from Sunday).

St. Landry - 3,001 cases (up 1) | 108 deaths (up 1)

St. Martin - 1,839 cases (up 3) | 51 deaths (no change)

St. Mary - 1,726 cases (up 6) | 65 deaths (no change)

Vermilion - 1,789 (up 5) | 38 deaths (up 3)

FROM SUNDAY:

As of August 23, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,223 and the number of deaths had increased by 59, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 142,943 and 4,605 deaths as of Sunday.

LDH is reporting that 118,120 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/17/20).

The LDH reports 941 people currently hospitalized (down 110 from Friday) and 152 of those are on ventilators (down 20 from Friday).
