COVID-19: State update - 139,903 coronavirus cases and 4,468 deaths

As of August 19, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 778 and the number of deaths had increased by 37, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 139,903 and 4,468 deaths as of Wednesday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases (93%) fall between August 12 and August 18, 2020. 82 percent of the cases reported to the state on Wednesday were community spread.

People aged 18-29 represented 18 percent of these cases, according to LDH. The second highest age group is people aged 30-39 at 17 percent.

LDH is reporting that 118,120 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/17/20).

The LDH reports 1,160 people currently hospitalized (down 44 from Tuesday) and 175 of those are on ventilators (down 12 from Tuesday).

St. Mary - 1,694 cases (up 5) | 65 deaths (up 3)

Vermilion - 1,753 (up 16) | 32 deaths (up 1)

FROM TUESDAY:

As of August 18, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 640 and the number of deaths had increased by 28, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 139,125 and 4,431 deaths as of Tuesday.

LDH is reporting that 103,512 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/10/20).

The LDH reports 1,204 people currently hospitalized (down 22 from Monday) and 187 of those are on ventilators (up 3 from Monday).
