COVID-19: State update - 138,485 coronavirus cases and 4,403 deaths

As of August 17, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 567 and the number of deaths had increased by 19, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 138,485 and 4,403 deaths as of Monday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of Monday's cases (97%) fall between August 10 and August 17, 2020. 85 percent of the cases reported to the state Monday were community spread and 28 percent of the cases are of individuals aged 29 and under.

LDH is reporting that 103,512 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/10/20).

The LDH reports 1,226 people currently hospitalized (up 30 from Sunday) and 184 of those are on ventilators (down 5 from Sunday).

Calcasieu - 7,045 cases (up 1) | 157 deaths (up 1)

Evangeline - 966 cases (down 1)* | 17 deaths (up 4)

Iberia - 2,627 cases (up 11) | 79 deaths (up 1)

Jefferson Davis - 1,080 cases (up 2) | 30 deaths (no change)

Lafayette - 7,976 cases (up 29) | 101 deaths (no change)

St. Landry - 2,908 cases (up 13) | 96 deaths (no change)

St. Martin - 1,790 cases (up 7) | 48 deaths (up 1)

St. Mary - 1,685 cases (up 8) | 61 deaths (no change)

Vermilion - 1,735 (up 11) | 30 deaths (no change)

(*State officials say they sometimes move a positive case from one parish to another if the positive was assigned to the parish where the person took the test, rather than where their residence is)

As of August 16, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,181 and the number of deaths had increased by 77, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 137,918 and 4,384 deaths as of Friday.

LDH is reporting that 103,512 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/10/20).

The LDH reports 1,196 people currently hospitalized (down 47 from Friday) and 189 of those are on ventilators (down 8 from Friday).
