COVID-19: State update - 135,439 coronavirus cases, 4,279 deaths

As of August 13, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,135 and the number of deaths had increased by 41, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 135,439 and 4,279 deaths as of Thursday.

LDH says that collection dates for most of these Thursday's cases (98%) fall between August 6, 2020 and August 13, 2020. 89 percent of the cases reported to the state Thrusday were community spread and 30 percent of the cases reported are of individuals aged 29 and under.

LDH is reporting that 103,512 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/10/20).

The LDH reports that that due to recent changes in federal reporting requirements, hospital related data like hospitalizations and patients on ventilators was delayed on Thursday. LDH later updated that data Thursday afternoon, with 1,281 people currently hospitalized (down 39 from Wednesday) and 196 of those on ventilators (down 15 from Wednesday).

That data was also delayed on Wednesday.

St. Landry - 2,841 cases (up 17) | 92 deaths (no change)

St. Martin - 1,760 cases (up 3 ) | 46 deaths (no change)

St. Mary - 1,658 cases (up 16) | 59 deaths (up 3)

Vermilion - 1,689 (up 32) | 28 deaths (no change)

FROM WEDNESDAY:

As of August 12, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,179 and the number of deaths had increased by 43, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 134,304 and 4,238 deaths as of Wednesday.

LDH is reporting that 103,512 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/03/20).

The LDH initially reported Wednesday that due to recent changes in federal reporting requirements, hospital related data like hospitalizations and patients on ventilators had been delayed.

LDH later updated that data Wednesday afternoon with 1,320 people that are currently hospitalized (down 15 from Tuesday). Of those, 211 required ventilators (down 3 from Tuesday).

On Saturday, July 18, the Louisiana Department of Health announced it will no longer be updating information on the COVID-19 dashboard on Saturdays. Information will be updated at noon daily except on Saturdays.
