COVID-19: State update - 125,943 coronavirus cases, 3,978 deaths

As of August 5, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 1,482 and the number of deaths had increased by 41, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 125,943 and 3,978 deaths as of Wednesday.

LDH says that the collection dates for most of these cases fall between July 29, 2020 and August 5, 2020.

Ninety-three percent of the cases reported to the state Wednesday were community spread and 29 percent are of individuals aged 29 and under.

LDH is reporting that 89,083 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 8/03/20).

The LDH reports that 1,471 people are hospitalized (down 16 from Tuesday). Of those, 223 required ventilators (down 17 from Tuesday).

St. Martin - 1,590 cases (up 10) | 43 deaths (up 1)

St. Mary - 1,511 cases (up 7) | 51 deaths (up 2)

Vermilion - 1,493 (up 26) | 20 deaths (up 1)

As of August 4, the number of coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,614 and the number of deaths had increased by 27, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of cases in the state is now at 124,461and 3,937 deaths as of Tuesday.

LDH says the number of cases reported Tuesday includes a backlog of 1,741 cases with specimen collection dates as far back as 5/28.

LDH is reporting that 74,246 coronavirus patients are "presumed recovered" (updated weekly, last updated 7/27/20).

The LDH reports that 1,487 people are hospitalized (down 9 from Monday). Of those, 240 required ventilators (up 10 from Monday).

On Saturday, July 18, the Louisiana Department of Health announced it will no longer be updating information on the COVID-19 dashboard on Saturdays. Information will be updated at noon daily except on Saturdays.
