Acadiana's numbers from the Louisiana Department of Health's Wednesday update remain steady in both case count and deaths.
Cases for the novel coronavirus are up by 26 in Acadiana, with five new deaths reported. On Tuesday 24 new cases were reported with seven deaths. Overall Acaidana is reporting 1,946 casese with 159 deaths.
The highest number of cases mid-week are in Calcasieu and Lafayette Parishes with nine new COVID-19 cases and five new cases reported respectively.
Calcasieu Parish has seen high case number increases but so far has only recorded 2 deaths for the week. Lafayette Parish numbers saw of increase of three deaths according to LDH numbers. On Wednesday a death was no longer being reported and the death total dropped down to 20 from 21 on Tuesday.
Deaths are still steady but remain low for most of Acadiana.
St. Landry Parish, the location with the highest number of reported deaths so far, saw two additional deaths. Their total is now 39.
After weeks with very little movement in case numbers, Evangeline Parish saw an increase of three cases. They have a total of 49 with zero deaths reported.
With one new case and one additional death, Iberia Parish has stayed on a steady increase in numbers. For more than a week, Iberia has added one death each day.
St. Mary Parish cases are up by three for a total of 185. No additional deaths were reported on Wednesday.
Jeff Davis reported only one new case for a total of 62.
Vermilion and Acadia Parishes saw no changed in case numbers from Tuesday.
