Showers have moved through the area early Friday morning, the first round in a series of cold showers expected to make their way across Acadiana through the remainder of the day.
The showers will be spotty through the afternoon but the clouds will be blanketing with unbroken, gray skies lasting all the way through Friday and a solid portion of the weekend.
Temperatures are going to sit in the low 40s in the afternoon but the windchill is going to remain down in the low 30s through the rest of the day, the result of strong winds coming from the north around 10-15 mph, gusts slightly higher.
While the showers may come to an end on Friday there doesn't seem to be much improvement in the weather for Saturday with temperatures once again staying in the low 40s and the wind chill right around freezing.
Clouds are going to stick around for the next several days with some patchy sunshine possible Sunday, although those patches will be fleeting and short lived.
Winter weather is going to move back in for the start of the week, with some frozen precipitation possible through the day on Monday.
It looks increasingly likely that there will be at least some freezing rain on Monday, with extreme cold temperatures moving in for Tuesday, look for a more detailed breakdown of Monday's weather on katc.com.
