Chance of storms increases with Acadiana under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather

and last updated

The forecast continues to look stormy on Thursday and the Storm Prediction Center has increased the likelihood of severe weather to an Enhanced Risk (a 3 on a scale of 5).

This doesn't change much to the overall thinking in regards to the forecast, the main issue remains some rotating storms that may produce damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

There is a chance for some hail with the storms although the threat for hail will be slightly higher for SW Louisiana and E Texas.

Storms are still anticipated to move through in the mid afternoon to early evening, it should be mentioned though that a few discreet cells may develop ahead of the main line of storms.

Any pre-front activity would need to be closely monitored given the current wind profile as they would be in an area favorable for rotating.

Keep up with the latest information on KATC and make sure you have a way to get any weather alerts turned on Thursday.
