Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested the wife of double homicide suspect Neil Broussard in connection with a double homicide earlier this month.
Tori Lynette Broussard is facing two charges of first degree murder in the deaths of 17-year-old Kyla Hidalgo and 18-year-old Kaleb Charlton, CPSO Sheriff Tony Mancuso announced in a press conference on Wednesday. She's been booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Tori Broussard was previously arrested for accessory after the fact to first degree rape and after the fact to molestation of a juvenile and later bonded out on both charges.
Mancuso said Tori Broussard willingly participated in hiding Neil Broussard and assisted him in evading arrest.
KPLC confirms that Tori Broussard is the chief investigator at the Calcasieu Public Defender's Office. Sheriff Mancuso said that it's possible someone from the sheriff's office or another department assisted the couple.
Neil Broussard is accused of shooting the two teens to death on July 15 and of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and stealing a car. The girl was found safe a few hours later. Her mother was also shot during the incident and was transported to a hospital.
Detectives searched for Broussard for hours before he turned himself in at the Dollar General on Highway 171 on the morning of July 17. He is currently booked in the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and charged with two counts of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and second degree kidnapping. His bond has been set at $4 million.
The investigation is ongoing. Sheriff Mancuso said it is possible more arrests will be made.
