A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday night on LA Hwy 14 in Calcasieu Parish.
State Police Troop D says they responded around 7:30 pm on November 11 to the crash just west of Corbina Road that claimed the life of an unidentified female pedestrian.
Troopers say an investigation revealed that the crash occurred as the woman was walking in the middle of the westbound lane of LA 14 and was struck by a westbound vehicle.
The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to an area hospital where she later succumbed to those injuries, according to troopers.
State Police say the driver of the vehicle was properly restrained, was not injured and showed no signs of impairment.
Toxicology samples were taken from the driver and pedestrian and submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
