33-year-old Timothy Benoit II of Lake Charles was indicted on January 16 by a grand jury. Following the indictment, warrants for his arrest were issued. Benoit's indictment stems from complaints that he allegedly sexually assaulted two girls on different occasions between 2015 and 2018. Those complaints stated that the girls were 5 and 8 years old at the time of those incidents.

The investigations were conducted by detectives and turned over to the District Attorney's Office.

Deputies attempted to locate Benoit at his home following his indictment but say they made contact with Benoit's girlfriend identified as 29-year-old Ashley Foy of Lake Charles. While speaking with Foy deputies say they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.
