LAKE CHARLES, La. — Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is evacuating 146 of its patients after Hurricane Laura damaged the city's water infrastructure so severely that the facility may be with out water for several weeks.

According to LCMH Director of Communications Matt Felder, the hospital is currently evacuating patients and will keep the Emergency Room open to treat and transfer patients.

"It’s all because of the lack of water," says Felder. "We need water for sterilization and AC."

Felder adds that the hospital is still running on generator power.

On Wednesday, the hospital announced on its Facebook page that it had evacuated all patients from Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women and had secured them at the Memorial Hospital.

On Thursday, the hospital posted several pictures showing severe storm damage and flooding on streets surrounding the hospital.
