A 63-year-old Lake Charles man has died of his injuries following a September 3 crash on La Hwy 397 in Calcasieu Parish

Louisiana State Police say that on September 3, 2020, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Troopers responded to a two-vehicle, serious injury crash at the intersection of LA Hwy 397 (Helms Road) and Ward Line Road in Calcasieu Parish.

They say the crash ultimately resulted in the death of 63-year-old Harold Edward Nash of Lake Charles who died Sunday morning.

An investigation revealed that Nash was traveling south on Ward Line Road when failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection, and was struck on the left side / driver’s side by another vehicle traveling west on LA Hwy 397.

Neither driver was properly restrained at the time of the crash, according to state police.

Nash sustained serious injuries and the driver of the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and were transported by air ambulance to a Lafayette area hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.

On September 13, 2020, Troop D was notified that Nash had succumbed to his injuries sustained during the crash.
